Please take advantage of the files below to help build you own .mobi selling and registration pages as well as to help you market .mobi domain names.

MOBI is the only recognized top level domain for the mobile internet.  A mobile website using a .MOBI domain and its best practices is your best choice to be seen by iPhones, Smartphones, and all mobile-devices and carriers.

The demand for mobile web content is steadily increasing. However, there are more than 80,000,000 .com, .net and .org sites, but only 0.03% are mobile friendly. dotMOBI is taking advantage of this deficit and presents - together with the .mobi names and  free dotMobi guides - domains working on any phone with any operator.

Over 2.6 billion people are connected to the mobile web.  In fact, there are more mobile phones than TVs and PCs combined.  It’s no surprise that some big brands are using .MOBI like Amazon, BMW, Barclays, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Air France, and Smirnoff (just to name a few).

.MOBI means "mobile" like .COM means "commercial" on a "computer."  .MOBI is a trustmark that tells your customers your site works on mobile phones and that your content is relevant to their mobile context.

Our lives are mobile and now so is the web.  Get your website optimized for mobility with a .MOBI domain name!

And you can get started with your own mobile website using free resources like dev.mobi and ready.mobi   (you can include links to http://dev.mobi and http://ready.mobi)

Get your .MOBI domain today !!

With the introduction of dot EU this thinking will certainly change, as dot EU is bound to become one of the most popular TLDs worldwide, especially in Europe.

EURid is a not for profit organisation appointed by the European Commission to be the operator of the Internet top level domain .eu. The first initiative, to establish .eu as a European top level domain, was taken in 1999 by the European Council. Subsequently, various preparations were made, mainly by the European Commission, until EURid was appointed in May 2003 as the operator of .eu, with the service contract being signed in October 2004. EURid was founded in April 2003 by the organisations operating the national top level domains for Belgium, Italy and Sweden. Later, the organisations operating the top level domains for the Czech Republic and Slovenia also joined EURid as members.

.eu was put in the root zone of the Internet Domain Name System (DNS) in March 2005 which means that, technically speaking; it has been in existence since then. .eu began accepting applications for domain names from end users on December 7, 2005. At that time, only holders of prior rights to names enjoying some legal protection in a member state could apply for those names as domain names before .eu opened for general registration on a strictly first-comefirst-served basis on April 7, 2006. This period of phased registration (Dec 7, 2005 – Apr 6, 2006) is referred to as the Sunrise period.

.COM Domains are socalled gTLDs (generic Top-Level-Domains) and can be registered by any party worldwide.

.com (commercial) is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) used on the Internet's Domain Name System. It was one of the original top-level domains (TLDs), established in January 1985, and has grown to be the largest TLD in use. It was originally administered by the United States Department of Defense.

Although .com domains are officially intended to designate commercial entities (others such as government agencies or educational institutions have different top-level domains assigned to them), there has been no restriction on who can register .com domains since the mid-1990s. The opening of the .com registry to the public coincided with the commercialization and popularization of the Internet, and .com quickly became the most common top-level domain for websites. Many companies which flourished in the period between 1997-2001 (the time known as the "dot-com bubble") went so far as to incorporate .com into the company name; these became known as dot-coms or dot-com companies.

.NET Domains are socalled gTLDs (generic Top-Level-Domains) and can be registered by any party worldwide.

.net (network) is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) used on the Internet's Domain Name System. The .net gTLD is currently operated by VeriSign. Registrations are processed via accredited registrars and internationalized domain names are also accepted.

.net is one of the original top-level domains created in January 1985. It was initially intended for use by network oriented entities such as Internet service providers. Currently, there are no formal restrictions on who can register a .net domain name. Therefore, while still popular with network operators, it is often treated as a second .com.

org (organization) is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) used in the Internet's Domain Name System.

.org was one of the original top-level domains, established in January 1985, originally intended for use by organizations that did not meet the requirements for other gTLDs. The MITRE Corporation was the first group to register a .org domain with mitre.org in July of 1985.

Now anyone can register a .org domain. .org was the domain commonly recommended for use by individuals.

The .org TLD has been operated since January 1, 2003 by Public Interest Registry.

You can now register a .NAME Domain and secure your own private internet address along with the respective Email-Address. E.g. Register www.First.Last.Name and automatically receive the respective Email-Address First@Last.Name. The official registry not only offers Third-Level .NAME Domains, but also as of January 14th 2004 Second-Level .NAME registrations.

You now have the possibility of registering your .DE Domain (Registration term is 1 year).

At first, the administration of domains was carried out informally. The names and associated computer addresses were entered into a list.

In August of 1993, a foundation was established through the initiative of the then three German Internet Service Providers, the "Interessenverbund Deutsches Network Information Center (IV-DENIC)" to put out to tender the operation of the nationwide name server service.

In 1994, the University of Karlsruhe took over the administration and registration of the .de domains for an initial period of three years. The number of domains reached 20,000 in 96.

The assembly of the IV-DENIC decided to found a cooperative society to administrate the German domains and provide the necessary infrastructure. The headquarters were established in Frankfurt.

Now, more than 100 people handle the over eleven million domains and make certain that the domain database, the name server for the .de domains and additional DENIC services are operational round the clock. Besides, for nearly all its services, DENIC now has complete hardware redundancy.

.WS (WebSite) is the Internet-address known for WebSites. Officially it is the ccTLD of Western Samoa being administered by a Global Domains International.

We have the solution to provide a unique Internet Presence for your broadcasting or television services. .TV, the country code Top-Level-Domain of the small Pacific Island nation Tuvalu, symbolizes an Internet-Address related to the television industry.

tv is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the island nation of Tuvalu. Except for reserved names like .com.tv, .net.tv, .org.tv and others, any person in the world can register a .tv domain for a fee. The Tuvalu government receives a quarterly payment of US$1,000,000 for use of the top-level domain.

The domain name is popular, and thus economically valuable, because it is an abbreviation of the word 'television' (other similar ccTLDs are .fm, .am, .cd, and .dj). The domain is currently operated by dotTV, a VeriSign company. The Tuvalu government owns twenty percent of the company.

Under the Top-Level-Domain UK you can register co.UK Domains targeted at companies, org.UK Domains for Organisations or me.UK Domains meant for individuals, who would like to have a personalized Internet presence.

The internet was originally established during the 1970s and was known as the Arpanet. By the 1980s a parallel system, the Joint Academic Network (JANET) was set up in the UK and used by Universities, the Ministry of Defence and research organisations to communicate electronically with one another.

By the early 1990s, the emerging internet service providers such as Demon, Pipex and BT became involved with the network and started to provide domain names to customers on a commercial basis.

Most countries have their own Top Level Domain. The .uk TLD was first used during the 1980s, and at that time a voluntary group called the Naming Committee managed the registration of .uk domain names.

As the demand for domains increased, a new organisation was needed to manage the .uk TLD and as a result Nominet UK was formed in 1996 as a private, not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee.

.US, the official country code Top-Level-Domain of the United States, was introduced primarily for american citizens, companies, organisations and government. Nonetheless also foreign entities can register .US Domains provided that they either have a business relationship or a subsidiary in the United States.

.BZ "A shorter way to business!" - The .bz domain is an unrestricted and largely untapped domain name space on the Internet and therefore an ideal opportunity for businesses and consumers that have been unable to register their desired name in other domains.

.CC - The Universal Internet Address is the ccTLD of Cocos (Keeling) Islands and a popular alternative to dot-com on the internet. Worldwide more than 500.000 .CC Domains have already been registered and the demand is still extremely high.

.NU (ccTLD of Niue) is a hot domain for Everyone. Young Internet users and small companies everywhere are adopting the .nu domain. These are Internet users who want to stand out from the crowd.

.nu is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) assigned to the island state of Niue. It was one of the first ccTLDs to be marketed to the Internet at large as an alternative to the gTLDs .com, .net, and .org. Playing on the phonetic similarity between nu and new, it was promoted as a "new" TLD in which there was an abundance of good domain names available. However now most of the top .nu's have been taken.

The domain is particularly popular in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium, as nu is the word for "now" in Swedish, Danish and Dutch. Partially owing to restrictive domain rules for the ccTLD assigned to Sweden, .se, .nu was used for creative marketing of websites such as www.TV.nu. However, the .se domain was generally considered more professional than .nu and .com. Registrations of Internationalized domain names and Unicode special characters are also allowed.

.AT is the official country code Top-Level-Domain for Austria. You can not only register domains beneath .AT, but also or.AT and co.AT.

The domain registration in Austria started in 1988 when the Top Level Domain .at was delegated to the University of Vienna. During the next 10 years, the University also served as .at registry. The initially severe delegation rules were liberealised in 1997 - this fact explains the abrupt rise of delegation numbers. One year later, nic.at took over the registration and administration of .at-domains.

nic.at has developed from its tasks. The demand for .at-domains has been great from the beginning - at the end of 2000 there were already 160,000 domain names registered. At the same time, the requirements for the domain management were increasing. New fields of activity - like customer care, registrar service, billing and accounting - were gradually taken over and developed by separate departments within nic.at. The technical operation of the .at-zone has remained with the Vienna University Computer Center (ZID). The increasing number of legal inquiries and domain name disputes between the domain holders (e.g. trademark rights) made it necessary to establish an internal legal competence - also with regard to legal disputes that were affecting the registry nic.at itself. The nic.at legal department has been quite successful regarding consultation and the settlement of legal disputes out of court.

In summer 2000, Richard Wein was appointed as the CEO responsible for finance, administration, organisation and IT. In September 2003, Robert Schischka joined nic.at as a second CEO, who is primarily responsible for the technical operation.

To .Be or Not to .BE, that is the question you have to answer if you want an Internet presence recognizable! .BE is the official country- code Top-Level-Domain of Belgium.

Professor Verbaeten of the Computer Science department of the Catholic University of Leuven started registering domain names in Belgium in 1989.

At his request, the responsibility for the registration of the domain names for .be was transferred to DNS Belgium, a non-profit association, established for this purpose on 2 February 1999.

To allow more flexibility, a complete liberalization took place, where everyone could register any name they liked.

As a result, the number of domain names doubled (89,718) and 3 months later 125,000 were registered.

A number of price cuts were implemented and brought down to 6 EUR.

In 2001, the rule of non-transferability of a domain name was abolished, and domain names could be traded freely.

In September 2002, the European Commission issued a call for tenders for the management of the .eu domain. DNS Belgium set up a consortium with its colleagues from Sweden and Italy to respond to the Call. The Belgian model forms the basis of the proposal.

A panel of external specialists awarded the management of .eu to EURid, the consortium of Belgian, Swedish and Italian registries. This decision was published in May 2003.

As from 1 September 2006 the registrar fee of a .be domain name is 5 €. This reduction applies to all new registrations, renewals, transfers and "trades".

.jp is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Japan. It is administered by the Japan Registry Service.

At the establishment of the .jp domain the domain was administered by the JPNIC, as part of their role as an overseeing technical body for the Internet in Japan. However, due to the growing importance and size of the .jp registry, it was decided at the 11th General Meeting of JPNIC in December 2000 to create a new corporation that would manage the .jp domain. Thus, the Japan Registry Service was created, and on June 30, 2003, officially assumed the duties of the .jp registry.

Registrations are processed via accredited registrars and domain names with Japanese characters (kanji, hiragana or katakana) may be registered at the second level.

ccSLD: Landsdomäner under en toppdomän

Som alternativ till lands-toppdomäner, ccTLD, såsom t.ex. norska .no, erbjuder vi subdomäner under .com. I det norska fallet t.ex.no.com.

TLD: Top Level Domain

gTLD: globle Top Level Domain. T.ex. .com, .eu, .asia

ccTLD: Country Code Top Level Domain. Lands-toppdomäner, t.ex .se.

 TLD introduction

Since .BE enables you to protect your business online, your web address with a .BE is easily memorable for local community. A .BE domain is much more likely to create a unique web identity; it helps you reach and communicate with the right audience.

 TLD introduction

.ch is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Switzerland. It is administered by SWITCH Information Technology Services.

The ".ch" domain does not come from the name for Switzerland in any of its national languages; "die Schweiz", "Suisse", "Svizzera" or "Svizra". Rather, it comes from Confœderatio Helvetica (Helvetic (Swiss) Confederation), the Latin name for the country (all Swiss coins are also stamped with this name).

Registrations of internationalized domain names have been accepted since March 2004.

Since .CH enables you to protect your business online, a domain with .CH makes your web address unique and easy to memorize. A .CH extension is doing much more, helping you reach and communicate with the audience in Switzerland.
